Behind the Petals A celebration of flowers in the wild
Drawing on over 30 years' experience as a photographer, Jonathan Mercer has produced this sumptuous limited edition book celebrating flowers in the wild.
This collection contains 150 photographs including 130 different wildflowers from iconic cornflowers and remembrance poppies to the brilliantly named Enchanter's Nightshade. From the smallest flowers, barely a few mm in size, to the largest blooms, his camera has unravelled some of the most exquisite and intricate details; in some cases, so small as to be difficult to see with the naked eye.
A brief explanation is given for each flower along with its approximate location and the times of flowering. Jonathan has also sought to give a brief personal insight into his thinking, feelings and challenges when taking these photographs.
This is a collection of images for anybody who loves flowers and the countryside, photographers and enthusiasts. Taken throughout the coronavirus crisis, the underlying message is that, "…we need to better understand and respect the natural world, in which we live".
